ABOUT SOOZ KEMPNER

Sooz Kempner is an award-winning comedian, writer, podcaster and performer whose brilliant blend of sharp comedy, theatrical flair and distinctive voice has made her one of the most original acts on the UK circuit. Since starting stand-up in 2009, Sooz has built an impressive career defined by smart writing, big personality and a wonderfully unique performance style. Equally at home in comedy, podcasting and musical theatre, she brings a rare versatility to the stage, combining humour, intelligence and charisma in a way that is entirely her own. Her talent was recognised early when she won Best Newcomer at the Musical Comedy Awards in 2010, the same year she graduated from the Royal Academy of Music. She went on to win the Variety Award at the Funny Women Awardsin 2012, further establishing herself as a standout creative talent. Sooz made her Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2014 and has since become a familiar and much-loved presence at the festival. In 2025, she performed her eleventh solo hour, Sooz Kempner is Ugly — a show exploring looks, trolling and Noel’s House Party — to jam-packed rooms at the Fringe, underlining her continued appeal and the loyal following she has built over more than a decade in comedy. Beyond stand-up, Sooz is also a successful podcaster and currently co-hosts two popular shows: Mystery on the Rocks, a comedy podcast combining true crime and cocktails with comedians Chris Stokes and Masud Milas, and The Queen Podcast, the UK’s official Queen podcast, featuring licensed music by the band and co-hosted with John Robins, Simon Lupton and Rohan Acharya. Outside comedy, Sooz also performs in musical theatre and is a regular collaborator with Richard Thomas, the acclaimed writer of Jerry Springer: The Opera.
