ABOUT JOE SUTHERLAND
Joe Sutherland is a comedian, actor and writer with a razor-sharp wit, an effortlessly stylish stage presence and a reputation as one of the most distinctive voices in British comedy. Smart, acid-tongued and brilliantly self-aware, Joe has built a career on sharp writing, big laughs and a uniquely charismatic performance style that has won over audiences across the UK and internationally. Whether on stage, on screen or in the writer’s room, he brings intelligence, originality and a standout point of view to everything he does. Joe’s television appearances include Roast Battle (Comedy Central), Hypothetical (Dave) and The Stand Up Sketch Show (ITV2). His acting work includes appearing opposite Jack McBrayer in Urban Myths (Sky Arts), as well as roles in sketches for Channel 4 and BBC Three, plus a memorable appearance in EastEnders (BBC One). At the Edinburgh Fringe, Joe has consistently delivered acclaimed and sell-out work. His debut solo show, MODEL/ACTRESS, won the inaugural Pleasance x VAULT Award in 2017. He followed that with TOXIC in 2018, which became one of the ten best-reviewed comedy shows of the festival, before transferring to a sell-out run at Soho Theatre and touring internationally to Scandinavia and the Istanbul Comedy Festival. His 2019 show SOUR also enjoyed a sell-out Fringe run before later transferring to Soho Theatre. In 2025, Joe returned to the Edinburgh Fringe with his latest solo show, MISS WORLD, which went on to tour the UK and became his first solo show performed at sea. In recent years, he has also performed internationally with Atlantis Events and toured solo shows across Europe and Asia. Joe has supported a wide range of major names on tour, including Ellie Taylor and Lloyd Griffith, as well as global stars from RuPaul’s Drag Race including Trixie Mattel, Alyssa Edwards, Kate Butch and Sasha Velour.
